Good Logos Put Firms On The Map

Developing a corporate logo to reflect a firm's identity is one of the biggest decisions a company will make when starting out or changing its image, a designer claims. And for Daniel Robinson, of Vizcom Design, in Bolton, such a decision is so important that its deliberation goes beyond the client company.
He said: 'I ask them to send the designs out to their existing and potential customers and let them decide. Quite often, the final choice is perhaps one they wouldn't have gone for, so we see it as an important step.'
And client Ralph D'Attorre, of RDA Business Services Ltd., took him at his word by carrying out market research across twelve countries. It took four months but Mr. D'Attorre has finally finished ploughing through large volumes of opinion to arrive at his conclusion. He is now confident that his venture should take off internationally as planned, and that his brand will be welcomed in Germany, Argentina, Austrailia and the US.
Mr. D'Attorre said: 'It's not the one I initially chose, but I feel it reflects my company extremely well. 'Vizcom is absolutely right- let the people decide.'
