SEO FAQs

1. Why is Search Engine Optimisation and Internet Marketing so important?

Research shows that 35% off all traffic to websites is generated by search engines. (82% of UK traffic comes via Google).

Likewise, other research suggests that around 70% of businesses look for new suppliers (i.e. your potential customers) by searching on the internet in the first instance.

Few businesses can now afford to ignore the importance of doing business via the internet. Most businesses stand to gain enormously from being listed high up in the results of search engines (i.e. on the first few pages) – that’s why SEO is so important.

Globally, more than 25 billion searches are carried out via search engines every month! This is only going to increase. Those businesses that invest in SEO stand a much better chance of prospering and developing their businesses.

2. How long will it take to optimise my website?

This is dependent on many factors some of which can include:

The size and amount of relevant, quality content (text, images, useful information, etc.) contained in your website.

How stable your website is and how often it is off-line.

If your site contains scripting errors or uses too much coding then this can affect your site's performance but doesn't always mean we can't achieve good results. We will be able to improve the coding, website structure and design. You can check if your website contains any errors by using this website http://validator.w3.org/

If we have built the website you can expect an increase in qualified traffic and higher search engine positions within a few months. If it hasn't been built by Vizcom or the search terms are highly competitive then it can take up to a year to achieve first page positions on Google, etc.

Our SEO packages are cheaper if the website is built by us if you would like more information and a list of websites we have built which include their current rankings please give us a call on 01204 383 599 or use our contact form.

3. Why hasn't my web designer optimised my website?

A lot of web designers don’t know how. They can quite often build you an attractive site but if it isn’t designed and built correctly or optimised for search engines the chances are it won’t be found very easily or more importantly bring you much business.

4. How do I choose the right SEO company to optimise my website?

Google offers advice on this. Click this link for more details Search Engine Optimization (SEO). We would advise you to ask for references and proof of all work done.

5. Can I try the software you use for finding popular keywords and phrases?

We use a number of techniques to look for keywords including the Google keyword suggestion tool. You can also trial one of the software packages we use just click on the Wordtracker advert in the left hand column to download a free trial version. Another more complicated and detailed software package is Web CEO.

6. What is Link Building?

What is link building? Basically it is the number of incoming links to your website (the number of times that your web address (URL) appears on another website). Google and other search engines look at the number of incoming links to your website, the relevance of the keyword or phrase that is being searched for, where the link is coming from and the quality of your website content. They use this information along with many other factors to deem your site's importance and relevancy to the key word or phrase being searched for and position you accordingly.

If you have a client or a supplier who has a website then why not ask them for a link exchange? If you prefer, we can do this for you. See our SEO Packages page for more information and costs.
