Get yourself a Gallery
In the Tony Hart Gallery styllee, visitors love to see pictures. Of course, this depends on the nature of your company, but even if you sell services as opposed to hard stock, there’s still plenty of opportunities to take out your camera and get some images taken to exhibit exactly what it is you have on offer.
Whether you are the sole trader, or you are lucky enough to have employed your own staff, take a picture of yourselves. Remember to make the effort and ideally get an example of people actually working; if your company uses machinery, have someone working on that, however if you’re office based and the premises are well decorated (and by that we mean, bright, light, clean and tidy) get a picture of everyone beavering away at their desks.
Take a picture of the outside of your premises on a sunny day if the building is aesthetically pleasing enough, and if you attend a trade fair on behalf of your company, whether you had an exhibition stand or simply attended, take lots of pictures of yourself there.
Remember the key to taking a good, natural photograph is keeping the frame as small as possible. This means reducing the space around the outside of the subject your photographing; it draws the eye to the content, and when taking pictures in crowded areas, makes the event look a lot busier that what it actually may be.
When it comes to uploading your photographs, be sure to resize them to reasonable dimensions- visitors to your website want to see a whole page as quickly as possible, they certainly don’t need massive images filling up pages, which also take a long time to load if one’s internet connection is not too strong.
A good example of a business gallery can be found on: http://www.improveyourfishing.co.uk/Photo-Gallery/56/ where both customers to the business and the staff can be seen at work. Also notice that if you click each image, it opens out into a larger version. This is possible to do yourself, dependant on what program you use to operate the administration area of your website, and if it is not available as an option, see our Marketing Tip #35- Flickr- it provides a service where you can embed a gallery via coding onto your website for free.
