To read about compiling keywords for your site in more detail and we strongly advise that you do, click back to our Keywords Marketing Tip and then return here.

All done?

Good. So now you have this valuable tried-and-tested collection of words, and you will know from these which are the most searched for, which are specific to your site- i.e. the long tailed product titles- and which are specific to your location. Your second task now is to compile them into text for your front page, incorporating each keyword into text which reads nicely- the best way to do this is read our Marketing Tip- Human Beings & Bots- Getting The Balance Right, which provides a few hints that should point you in the right direction.

After you’ve done this, publish your new, updated homepage full of juicy keyword goodness, and then visit the Keyword Density Analyzer on the Ranks DL and enter the address of your home page. This website then processes your page and provides you with a comprehensive breakdown which allows you to analyse the text you’ve published.

Using the Ranks Wizard

Starting from the top of the results page, The Ranks Wizard will tell you what keywords it thinks you have optimised your page for on a visual graph.

The Page Element section will then tell you how The Ranks Wizard came to the above conclusion; you can also see which aspects of your page the Keyword Density Analyzer has checking, which includes the titles, meta descriptions and alt tags.

Further down the results, you’ll find all of the single words of your text have been analysed too, letting you know how many times each individual word has been repeated, with the capital letters providing a key to where each word has been used on your page;

T = Title words

D = Meta descriptons

K = Meta keywords

H = Headings

L = Link text

B = Bold text

A = Alt text

Further down the results page, listed after the single word analysis, you’ll find all your long-tailed keywords, listen in two, three and four word formats, which can all be checked against the original list of keywords that you began with. Are you using the right keywords in the right places, or there too many words showing up in these results that are popular but not on your list at all? Use the information from this site to streamline your text to optimise it to its best possible capabilities, and then run the text for your other pages through it too- taking the time do this will only serve to benefit you as your pages are suggested during search engine results.
