Search Engine Submissions

Now you've constructed the bare bones of your site, uploaded it on to a domain and filled it full of juicy keywords, you need to submit to various places. That's if you are in a hurry the search engines will find it anyway.

A screenshot of Vizcom as it appears on Google MapsAt Vizcom Design, we've found that Google is often the quickest search engine and will 'crawl' your site within days. To speed up the process however, can manually submit your website to Google Maps, Google Profiles, etc. Yahoo and MSN.

DMOZ is a directory of companies edited by human beings and not computer programmes. Submit your site here and then crack on with registering it elswhere - in the instance of your site not being accepted here, you can still submit it to many other places - a listing on DMOZ is useful, but remember it's not the be-all and end-all of optimising your site, and you can always re apply after a year.

The idea behind DMOZ is that voluntary 'online citizens' take small portions of the internet, and sort the authentic, working sites from the badly constructed, 'spammy' efforts which slow everyone's experience of the internet. There is a
Google business directory, which uses data from Dmoz- as it's run by human beings it's 'more trusted'- so obviously being registered here is valuable.
